Cherríe Moraga is a renowned poet, playwright, educator, and cultural activist. She co-edited (with Gloria Anzaldua) This Bridge Called My Back: Writings by Radical Women of Color and has published several collections of writings, including: A Xicana Codex of Changing Consciousness; Loving in the War Years: Lo que nunca pasó por sus labios; and The Last Generation. Her plays include Heroes & Saints and The Hungry Woman. Moraga is Professor in the Department of English at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Her newest literary memoir, Native Country of the Heart, explores her mother’s life and unearths the remnants of a U.S. Mexican diaspora and its indigenous beginnings.
