The Department of English & Comparative Literature is pleased and proud to honor composer-lyricist-performer Gillian Welch with the 2018 Thomas Wolfe Prize. We welcome her, along with longtime collaborator David Rawlings, to Carolina to celebrate their signal contributions to American song and story.

Albums: Revival (1996); Hell Among the Yearlings (1998); Time (The Revelator) (2001); Soul Journey (2003);The Harrow and The Harvest (2011; Grammy Nominee for Best Folk Album, 2012); Soul Journey LP (August 2018). Shared in Grammy Award for O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2002). Americana Music Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award for Songwriting to David Rawlings & Gillian Welch (2015).
