Kenan Distinguished Professor of English & Creative Writing Bland Simpson’s book, North Carolina: Land of Water, Land of Sky, was recently published by UNC Press. Working with his wife and creative partner, Ann Cary Simpson, professional photographer Scott Taylor, and writer and naturalist Tom Earnhardt, Simpson’s book blends “history, observation of nature, and personal narrative […] to chronicle the people and places of eastern Carolina.” Simpson has published several books on North Carolina over the past decade, including The Coasts of Carolina (UNC Press, 2010), Two Captains from Carolina (UNC Press, 2012), and Little Rivers & Waterway Tales, A Carolinian’s Eastern Streams (UNC Press, 2015).
