With the generous donation of Alan Shapiro, Greenlaw 314 transformed over the summer into a beautiful space for UNC ECL graduate students to work, eat, and socialize between classes and meetings. The Department held a grand opening celebration for the Shapiro Lounge during the first week of classes this fall, where faculty and graduate students enjoyed food, company, and the new space. The Shapiro Lounge will be open all hours for graduate student use throughout the academic year.
