Michael Keenan Gutierrez is the author of The Trench Angel and holds an MFA in fiction from the University of New Hampshire and an MA in history from the University of Massachusetts. Before coming to UNC, he worked as a lecturer at the University of Miami. His work has been published in The Collagist, Scarab, The Pisgah Review, Untoward, The Boiler, Crossborder, and LA Weekly. His screenplay, The Granite State, was a finalist at the Austin Film Festival and he has received fellowships from The University of Houston and The New York Public Library.
