Marta Nunez-Pouzols, originally from Seville (Spain), started her Ph.D. in Comparative Literature at UNC-Chapel Hill in the Fall of 2009. Marta’s main areas of research are 20th-century Latin American Literature, Visual Culture, Literary Theory, Modernist Studies and Poetics. Her dissertation project explores the aesthetics and politics of brevity in the 1960s, examining the practices of microfiction, epigrammatic writing and urban photography in Mexico, Argentina and Venezuela. She has co-curated experimental film, poetry and performance events at UNC, Duke, Rosario (Argentina) and Seville. Marta teaches undergraduate courses in Film and Spanish and collaborates with the Spanish newspaper Diagonal.
