Anna Levett is a doctoral candidate in comparative literature. Her areas of research include 20th century Arabic and French/Francophone literature, with additional interests in Mediterranean studies and film. Her dissertation, "The Surreal Mediterranean: Late 20th Century Arab Modernism and the Rewriting of Surrealist Historiography," examines the reception of surrealism among Arab authors in the 1970s and 80s. She has taught courses in French language, film studies, and Arab cultures. From 2015-2016 she was a fellow at the Center For Arabic Study Abroad in Cairo, Egypt.
