Anna Levett is a fourth-year PhD candidate whose research interests include modernist poetry and poetics, the Mediterranean and the intersection of religion and literature. In 2007 she received her BA from the University of Pennsylvania with a double major in French and English. Prior to her arrival in Chapel Hill in 2010, she lived in Turkey for three years. Her dissertation is on the fusion of Sufism and Surrealism in late 20th-century Arab modernism. She has taught courses in French, film and Arab culture.
