Invitations, RSVPs, and Guest Tickets
In April, all senior English and Comparative Literature majors who applied for spring graduation received an e-mail invitation to our graduation ceremony. Students who do not respond in a timely manner risk being excluded from the ceremony. A limited number of guest tickets (three per graduating student) are available for family members & friends who would like to attend. Only graduating students can request guest tickets, and they will have the opportunity to do so at the time they RSVP. Guests should not contact the department hoping to acquire tickets. Students may request extra guest tickets at the time they RSVP. Requests for extra tickets will be considered after all RSVPs are processed.
Students are expected to wear academic regalia to graduation – cap, gown, honor cords, etc.

Disability Parking and Seating
Special seating accommodations can be made for students and guests with mobility issues. Students must include a special seating request in their RSVP. Accommodations cannot be arranged on the day of the event.
Limited disability parking will be available on Paul Green Theatre Drive using a state issued disability permit, plate or placard. All parking for the graduation event is on a first-come, first-served basis, and we expect these spaces to fill quickly. If possible, we recommend that guests with special needs be dropped off at the facility prior to parking.
The Raleigh Road Lot, on Highway NC 54, (diagonally across from the School of Government) has been reserved for our ceremony guests. A monitor will be on site to admit guests. No permit is required. Parking is limited, so guests who can car pool or arrange for other transportation should do so. Those who arrive later may have to park elsewhere. Any space on campus that is not specifically reserved for an event or where parking is otherwise prohibited (such as a 24-hour service space) is available for parking. Be aware that many other commencement events are planned for Saturday, and spaces may be difficult to find. Suggested alternate parking includes Stadium Drive, T Lot (at the end of Country Club Road), Park Place/N5, Venable Lot, or Country Club metered spaces on a first-come-first serve basis.
All parking is first-come, first-served, and some of the options involve a brisk walk to the theater. Please bear that in mind as you make your plans for attending the ceremony.
On the day of the event, students should check in at the Paul Greene Theatre no later than 1:30 p.m. The ceremony will begin promptly at 2:00 p.m.
The ceremony will be brief. Bland Simpson, the Department Chair, will say a few words of welcome. A few speakers from the department will follow. We will then move directly to recognizing the graduates.

We will contract with Photo Specialties so that each student can have a photo of his or her moment on stage. The photographer will provide proofs to families in the week following the ceremony. After the ceremony, there will be a reception in the lobby until 4:00 p.m. Refreshments will be provided.
